TemperedTEMPERED

Heat. Pressure. An honest panel.

Temper your idea
before you build it.

Five expert personas strike at your business idea where it's thin — operator, market skeptic, customer advocate, devil's advocate, optimist. What comes back is hardened: a scorecard, the assumptions you still need to validate, and the smallest possible next move.

Can be completed in under twenty minutes.

Tempered isn't built to be fast — it's built to be honest. The panel reads your idea, reacts in turn, and you sit with what they push back on. Most sessions finish in fifteen to twenty minutes; the panel doesn't pad.

How it works

Five lenses. One idea.

01

The Operator

Execution feasibility

Audits execution reality, unit economics, and scope discipline. Tells you whether what you've described can actually be built and run profitably — by you, in your region, at your stage.

“Who is doing the work on day 90?”
02

The Market Skeptic

Market validity

Probes market size, timing, and structural demand. Hunts for the gap between founder belief and market evidence — whether real customers exist now, not in some optimistic future.

“How many people are actively trying to solve this problem today, and what are they paying for it?”
03

The Customer Advocate

Customer demand

Reads customer behavior, willingness to pay, and the gap between what people say and what they do. Watches for behavioral evidence — workarounds, money already changing hands — that demand is real.

“What is the customer doing today to solve this problem, and why hasn't that been enough?”
04

The Devil's Advocate

Risk severity

Surfaces the bets you haven't said out loud — competitive moat, regulatory exposure, commoditization timing. Names real companies that tried versions of this and failed.

“There is a graveyard of companies that believed the same thing.”
05

The Optimist

Upside potential

The last voice on the panel. After hearing every objection, looks for the version of this idea that actually works — and the specific path to get there.

“Here is the version of this that I would fund — and here is what has to be true for it to work.”

Each persona writes a candid assessment, scores their domain out of five, and asks the one question your idea still has to answer. The session ends with a verdict: a scorecard, your top assumptions to validate, and the smallest next move you could make this week. What comes out the other side is sharper than what went in.

What fits

Bring an idea with a customer and a price.

Tempered pressure-tests commercial ideas — something a customer could pay for. A paragraph in a notes app, a working prototype, or your first paid sale. The panel calibrates to where you actually are.

The sharper your input, the sharper the pushback. Vague answers get vague feedback. Bring a specific customer in a specific moment, an honest price, and the real hardest part of executing — and the panel will work.

Not yet a fit: tactical decisions inside an existing business (“should I raise prices?”, “should I hire?”), personal or career questions, or head-to-head comparisons of two ideas. Each session works on one idea at a time.

The scope today

What Tempered does — and what's coming.

The panel works from your words alone. It doesn't fetch market data, research competitors, or build your financials. What you tell it is what it has.

The Customer Advocate persona simulates a customer — useful for catching obvious blind spots, but not a substitute for actually talking to the people you're trying to serve.

Each session ends at a verdict: a scorecard, the assumptions you still have to validate, and the smallest next move you could make this week. From there, the work is yours.

What's coming

Re-tempering.After you've acted on the verdict, you'll be able to come back, log what happened, and convene a fresh panel that reads against reality — not what you imagined. The same idea, sharpened by what changed.

Then, premium tooling for ideas ready to launch — customer-discovery scripts, financial stress-tests, the work that follows the verdict.

Tempered is still evolving. If something on this list matters to you — or something missing from it should be on it — write to feedback@gettempered.app. The panel is shaped by the people using it.

Why it exists

Built by the exact person it's for.

Two decades across business, sales, finance, and operations. I never wrote a line of production code. What I had was an unread stack of ideas and no way to put pressure on any of them — until AI made it possible to build the panel I wished I could convene on a Tuesday afternoon.
